It’s so reassuring when you get some success early in the season. We were very pleased with the asparagus especially as we had to wait a year for it. We decided to err on the side of caution and only picked it for four weeks and have now let it grow.
Meanwhile, the ‘All Year Round Lettuce’ has thrived under the enviromesh. I think it has appreciated a little bit of shelter as the three plants we couldn’t fit in that bed have been exposed to the elements and are about half the size. We sowed them back in early March between lines of parsnips which has worked really well as I’m sure they will be eaten before the parsnips need the space.
