Entertaining the boss

by julieg 19. July 2009 14:40

On Friday evening we had a dinner party and two of the guests were the owners of this website. Of course, I had to impress them with my charm and sophistication as hostess, not to mention the odd morsel from the allotment! The aperitifs flowed handsomely so that the food would take on a glorious glow of excellence. To start with I served crispy duck served with Hoisin sauce, Chinese pancakes, sliced cucumber and OUR sliced spring onions. Main course was an Asian-style fillet of salmon served with coconut rice garnished with OUR coriander, stir-fried cabbage (OURS) in garlic (OURS), ginger and toasted sesame seeds, OUR steamed yellow courgettes and OUR mange tout. It was pretty late by the time I served dessert – I guess I got slower at serving the food, the more glasses of wine I drank – which was Eton Mess with home-made meringues made from my friend Sarah’s hens’ eggs, double cream and SAINSBURYS strawberries marinated in Cointreau. I could tell by that time it didn’t matter that the strawberries had come from that well-known supermarket: nobody noticed that they had been well-soaked in alcohol!
