It seems to be raining across the country today. I really wanted to get over to the allotment and do some weeding and plant some seeds in gaps. Instead, I’ve had to settle for watering the houseplants and the two chillis sitting on the windowsill (I keep forgetting they’re there and they have a host of tiny fruit flies living on them which I’m sure isn’t a good sign) and making roast beetroot soup out of the enormous beetroots I picked yesterday. Only trouble is my recipe (Sarah Raven again) says I need chard leaves and they’re out there in the rain. Perhaps I’ll do without.
